Normally I like to book my own travel. But once a year I treat myself to a tour masterfully organized by Amy. This time we visited Slovenia, a gorgeous country that values its natural environment and has a proud cultural identity. The tour was worth every penny, from spectacular sites to fine dining, surprisingly great wines and comfortable accommodations. The people in Slovenia are kind and welcoming. Our small tour group had lots of laughs among people from varied backgrounds. Once strangers, they are now friends. Your life will be better during and after this tour.

The tour was led with expertise and well organized. Loved both of our tour guides with their confident yet relaxed manner. The trip was amazing with visual delights. We ate well and slept in nice hotels with wonderful surroundings. I would jump at the opportunity to try to go again.

We had the most wonderful trip to Slovenia with Amy and Sara. Every detail was considered. Amy had thoroughly researched each town and activity to provide a curated trip. The hotels offered the right blend of comfort and elegance. The restaurant selections were excellent providing an introduction to Slovenian and Balkan cuisine. Slovenia is a beautiful and diverse country and Amy excelled at providing a meaningful, fun and memorable experience.

This is an amazing trip for hikers of any ability. Amy has mapped out the route with options for advanced hikers and other choices for those who want to recover for a day. The reward at each day’s end was a wonderful meal and a hot shower. Of course there was stunning beauty along the way, from the moment you wake up until you fall asleep. Great camaraderie among the group and lots of laughs. From the packing lists and attention to individualized needs, Amy has it covered. You’ll feel inspired and refreshed when you return home.

This was an amazing opportunity to see an Incredible part of Switzerland and its high mountains areas. The tour was professionally organized, and handled in a small group arrangement that allowed for flexibility and individual opportunities. The scenery was incredible, the company was great and the memories will last forever!

My trip to the Alps with Amy & Chris

Just like any experience, there are pros and cons to this trip. It was my first experience in Switzerland and being that close to the majesty of the Alps. But before you pack your bags and think of joining Amy in this trip I would like to warn you .. while there are a ton of pros in this trip, which I will get to, in a minute, I like to first talk about the cons.. & there a few.

Cons:
- Morning coffee: I am sure, if you are a coffee drinker like me, you enjoy your morning coffee when you start your day.. right now you feel like that first sip is amazing. Unfortunately, when you come back from the trip you wish you were having that cup while staring at the Alps and watching fog cover the entire scenery and in five minutes disappear.. So, your morning coffee as you know it now.. will not be the same when you come back.
- Afternoon beer: Sometimes we drink that perfect glass of beer.. and feel great.. but wait .. when you come back you were having that beer at the rest stop in the middle of the hike, in a small town surrounded by the view of the Alps.. so there again, there goes your favorite beer experience .. it will not be the same.

I think you can imagine where this is going.. every experience I used to have before going to this trip is not the same anymore. If one has not seen the majesty and beauty of the Alps and being immersed in it with hikes that take you to remote locations, you have no idea what I am talking about here.
& Pros.. the team we were with were absolutely great.. the humor, laughter, drinking, dancing on tables, being thrown out of bars (kidding).. was nothing I had any experience with. Amy & Chris made the trip so well designed and planned that we felt all is under control, even when we were in the middle of nowhere.

Amy guided us on a most amazing journey through the heart of Switzerland. While the scenery was the best part, the food, coffee and chocolates sure made it fun to get to the next village. The hikes were equally rewarding with distance and challenge! We'd do it again!

This trip was the best trip of my life. I have travelled all over Europe but have never had an experience quite like this. The travel, the group, and the vistas were ones that I will never forget. The treks were challenging but extremely rewarding, and looking back this trip was not just beautiful but one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

This was our first hiking trip abroad and we signed up only a month before. Amy is an amazing planner and had packing list suggestions along with travel suggestions for getting to Switzerland which were very helpful. It was refreshing to wake up each day knowing the whole day was already planned and all you had to do is hike! Breakfast & dinner provided at each accommodation were hearty and delicious and the lunch options of packing a sandwich or stopping at a hut were great.


As not having as much prep time and being in decent but not top shape, the hiking was difficult. However, there were many opportunities to adjust the days hike - via a different path (gradual road instead of trail, gondola, train, etc) which we took advantage of. Some days were tougher than others, but all were rewarding with their views and scenery and what was accomplished in the day.


We highly recommend traveling on Swiss Hiking Tours and the Via Alpina with Amy!

It was a pleasure to be on a hiking trip where every day felt adventurous, expansive, uniquely beautiful, and never rushed!

Amy’s vision and planning for a Swiss hiking experience is top notch: The variety of experiences, hotels, meals, and well-thought-out pacing of the days created a lovely feeling of spontaneity.

It’s a wonderful thing to spend 7- or 8-days hiking through gorgeous scenery without the burden of wondering if you are on the right track or have a place to eat and sleep at the end of the day!

This was my first hiking trip outside the US and it was a real treat! It was the perfect combination of challenging physical work, beauty and luxury! Our guide's trip planning was amazing. Hiking along the trail felt remote at times, but just when lunch rolled around, there was usually a small, beautiful place to stop and eat food, and even have a coffee or ice cream (no joke!). We were a group, but were able to hike at our own paces knowing there were benchmarks along the way where everyone would regroup. Each morning our guide would tell us what to expect for the day's hike and gave us helpful maps and elevation profiles. There were also alternate trails and transportation options for unexpected days when hiking was not possible (bad blisters got one person on the last day!) That was a real plus and at different times, for different reasons, people took advantage of those and appreciated the option when needed. Our guide planned little surprises along the way that were fabulous and unexpected. I really loved working hard during the hike and ending the day at a wonderful inn, sharing great conversation and a meal with a perfectly sized group. I really loved the variety - every day was so different. The final day was quite spectacular, ending with an amazing view over the lake!

Hiking with a guide really took the stress out of my trip. Even before the trip started, our guide helped with packing lists, gear suggestions, and general travel questions. By the time we started our trip, every detail was in order and I did not worry about what I was bringing with me. They knew the best hotels, best food, best stops and best hiking trails. They eliminated the most grueling downhills, which my knees really appreciated! I could not have planned anything this special on my own and our guide's knowledge of the trails, lodging and special perks made the trip fabulous and beautifully orchestrated.
